ANDOVER- Shortly after delivering remarks at the annual Veteran’s Day ceremony in neighboring North Andover, Andover resident Oscar Camargo will announce his candidacy for the 18th Essex’s State Representative seat.  Camargo, a 15-year US Army veteran, will express his intentions to prospective voters on November 11th at 2:30PM in front of Andover’s Old Town Hall.  Running on his strengths as a volunteer and serviceman, Camargo promises to bring a new brand of representation to the district: “As a veteran, I have proven my dedication to public service.  As an active volunteer, I have proven my willingness to invest in our community’s future.  As a believer, I stand firm in the idea that our future is not a matter of chance — it’s a matter of choice.

A graduate of Northeastern University and the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University, Camargo touts a socially progressive and fiscally conservative message that will resonate in the 18th Essex, which is comprised of sections of Andover, Boxford, North Andover, and Tewksbury.  Combined with his involvement in community organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, and Ironstone Farm, Camargo says his leadership style and negotiation skills make him exceptionally well-suited to advocate for the district’s unique identity at the State House: “I’m running because I believe our community can do better and deserves leadership that it can depend on.  When elected, I’m ready to work with legislators on both sides of the aisle to protect our community’s interests and ensure our voice is respected once again in the State House.”

Camargo’s announcement will be made promptly at 2:30PM, followed by an opportunity for voters to engage with the candidate at Palmers Restaurant and Tavern in Andover from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.  Questions regarding the event may be directed to Campaign Manager Philip D’Agati (978-590-9618), Press Secretary Zachary Hrynowski (603-391-2682), or the campaign’s email address (votecamargo@gmail.com).  For more information about the candidate and his platform, please visit votecamargo.com.
