Hateful Bible Thumpers ~ YE GAY Ol’ VALLEY

Dani Langevin, Lesbian ColumnistBy: Dani LangevinJuly, 2015

On June 26, the Supreme Court of the United States voted that denying gays and lesbians the right to marry is unconstitutional. As expected, those of us who choose love celebrated while those who choose hate condemned the decision and spewed their hate filled rhetoric all over social media. What is laughable is that the majority of those who oppose this decision consider themselves bible following Christians. My parents were Christians. Not once did I ever hear anything hateful about anyone come out of the mouths of my parents. As true Christians they did not believe it was their job to judge. As the bible says in Luke 6:37, “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned, forgive and you will be forgiven.” I saw nothing but judgment coming from those so-called Christians.

I do not believe the Christian bible is the measurement of how people should behave. It was written not by God but by men for men. There are far too many religions and too many religious texts to say that the Christian bible is THE one. For those of you who do believe that it is the moral measuring rod for all of mankind and believe it was written by God, then I have to believe that God did not intend His teachings to be a la carte. It’s all or nothing.

When it comes to those who condemn the gay lifestyle, Leviticus 20:13 is always quoted. In essence it says that any man who has sexual relations with another man as he has with a woman, then the two men should be put to death. Well, a gay man would not have sexual relations with a woman, so the point is moot. Did you know that Leviticus 19:28 warns, “. . . do not tattoo your body,” How many of you bible thumpers who quote 20:13 have ink? I suggest you have that removed lest the hand of God strike you down. What other sins are mentioned in Leviticus that most Christians don’t follow? You will die if you have unkempt hair or tear your clothes (10:6). You will also die if you drink alcohol in holy places (10:9). Oh, oh, there goes a Sunday Mass tradition.

In Leviticus 12:2, it is said that women who give birth to a boy is unclean for seven days and must not be in the company of man and your not supposed to go to church for the next 33 days. In 12:5, it states that women who give birth to a girl is unclean for two weeks and must not be in the company of man and, in this case, stay away from Mass for 66 days. Is this biblical law being followed? For those women who had a child as a result of adultery, Jesus himself said in Revelation 2:22-23, “I will kill her children with death.” This from a man/god who supposedly taught love and forgiveness freely admits that he would kill the innocent victims of someone else’s sins. Birth sure does have a lot of rules according to the bible.

I heard a great deal of fearful and hateful statements after the Supreme Court’s decision. What does your Christian God say about fear and hate? John 4:18 states, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I don’t believe I saw any form of pure love from those condemning gay marriage. I certainly didn’t see any forgiveness. Matthew 6:15 advises, “If you do not forgive their trespasses, neither will you father forgive your trespasses.” Better start forgiving the court or you bible thumping haters will not be forgiven and you’ll go straight to hell with all of us gays and lesbians.

As Christians, you cannot pick and choose what biblical scripture you will and will not follow. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.” How many of you have said “Damn it” or “Jesus Christ” because you were angry? Sinner! “You shall not make idols.” Every Catholic church I have ever walked into has idols all over the place. Sinners! “You shall not covet.” Give me a break. Everyone sees something they don’t have and wants it. All Sinners!

There are many more biblical quotes I can add to this column that many of you “Christians” do not adhere to or just choose to ignore. Hiding behind and twisting the words of one’s beliefs is exactly what those Muslim extremists you like to refer to as “towel heads” do to justify their violent acts against non-Muslims. And, yes, it IS the same thing. It starts with name calling, followed by a retaliatory remark. Someone then picks up a stone and throws it. This is met with the tossing of a boulder, then bullets fly, followed by missiles, ending with a bomb. As stated earlier the bible says that you shouldn’t judge, or you will also be judged and yet you all judge. You’re an insult to your God. You’re the antithesis of all He represents. I’ll meet you in hell. I hear it’s nothing but a non-stop gay pride parade. Enjoy!
