Hazardous Waste Leak in Lawrence
50 gallon drums of toxic waste called Sodium Bisulfite is not only illegaly stored at the Lawrence water treatment plant, but leaked out of the drums onto the floor. The above left picture, shows the white crystal substance on top of the drum where the chemical had leaked onto the floor. Someone at the plant took the drum and tipped it over so that the hole in the bottom of the drum from corrosion and leakage would be on top to prevent further spilling. Nobody at the plant ever bothered to clean up the hazardous waste until it was discovered by the mayor’s office last month.
