Hoops Star Brewington, returns to help local kids

By: Connie Benedetto – February, 2012

Dwight Brewington, a native of Lynn, MA, was born partially deaf. Yet, from a young age, after realizing his love and passion for basketball, he had to overcome people’s perceptions of his handicap and prove that he can compete at a high level.

After high school, Brewington played at Providence College (Big East), where he was the Friars’ second leading scorer. He then transferred to Liberty University, where after one season, he submitted an early entry application into the 2007 NBA draft. He recently returned from Canada’s NBL, Summerside Storm. And with two children of his own, Brewington looks to be a role model for kids who have a dream of playing basketball. “I have so much passion for the game. As much dedication that I have for basketball, all the hard work I have invested, on and off the court, I will help convert you into a skilled fundamental basketball player. ” Dwight shares with people he meets promoting his Training Program and AAU Team, Active Skills Allstars and Metro Boston.

Dwight’s focus has always been, “School first, Basketball second.” Players already training with Dwight, know these two principles go hand in hand. His ability to teach aspiring players, with heart and conviction, is what makes Dwight Brewington’s Coaching so unique. Dwight inspires young players, boys and girls, to achieve their dream. He helps his members get to the next level, whether, that is becoming a Division 1 College Player or becoming a Professional Prospect.

Coach Brewington will be starting up his spring training program and AAU Program in March. Tryouts for Active Skills Allstars and Metro Boston will be on March 3 from 7pm-9pm at The Huntington YMCA, 316 Huntington Ave, Boston for 10th and 11th grade.
