I Will Make All Things New ~ Peter Larocque

By: Peter Larocque – Jan. 2016

In my last two columns I have been focusing on the truth that God is doing something new, based on the scripture taken from Isaiah 43:19. I thought it appropriate to conclude this series as we celebrate the New Year with my first column of 2016!

In part 1, I covered that once we get born-again, where we go from death to life, God places us in Christ making us New! In part 2, I covered that we are no longer under the Old Covenant, The Law of Moses, and the 10 Commandments. We are now under The New Covenant of Grace. Today God no longer judges us by our sin; he remembers our sins no more! This is all summed up in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He [God] made him[Jesus Christ] to be sin for us,[you and I] who knew no sin, that we [you and I] might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Now, I would like to conclude this series by sharing what else that God did that was new, What God is still doing new and what God will do new in the future.

The Bible teaches us that God has three classifications of people, we read about this in 1 Corinthians 10:32, “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:” Before getting born-again, we are either a Jew or a gentile. But after we are sanctified by the blood of Christ, we now belong to the Church of God.

Knowing this, we can now read Ephesians 2:13, “But now in Christ ye [you and I] who sometimes were afar off are made nigh [next to kin] by the blood of Christ. (14) For he is our peace, who hath made both [Jew and gentile] one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; (15) having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [separation] even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain [two] one New Man, so making peace;” Because of the blood of Jesus Christ at the time of the New Birth, there is no longer a separation between Jew and Gentile, so making peace, so making a New Man.

This New Man can now walk in Newness of Life. We can read this in Romans 6:3-4, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Once we are born-again, God places us in His New Church which got its beginning on Pentecost which we read about in Acts 2:1-4.

Before reading this, we must go a few days earlier when Jesus gave his final instructions to his Apostles which we read about in Acts 1:4-5, “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father which, saith he, ye have heard of me. (5)For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

Now we are ready to read Acts 2:1-4, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

This day of Pentecost is what God had been waiting for, for a very long time! This was the birthday of the New Church, the Church of God! For the first time being born-again of God’s Spirit became available!

On this day they heard a New sound from heaven they never heard before. They saw something New, cloven tongues like as of fire, that they never saw before. They spoke something New; they began to speak in other tongues, [languages] that they never spoke before.

This is how the New Man is to walk in Newness of Life! The New Church is called to speak New things which it never said before. The New Church is called to Hear New things which it never heard before. The New Church is called to See New Things it has never seen before. The New Church of God is to bring Heaven to Earth in a way that is New and Relevant to 2016!

In conclusion, as we walk in Newness of life, until we draw breath no more or Jesus comes for us and at that time we will receive a New Body fashioned like unto His glorious body as it says in Philippians 3: 21, “ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body,…”

Then at the right time again, the New Things we read about in Revelation 21: 1-5 come to pass. Revelation 21:1-5, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (2) And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
(3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

Behold, I [God] make all things New beginning with us, making us a New Creation in Christ, The New Man, placing us in The New Church giving us a New Covenant of Grace where we can Hear and See and Speak New Things until Christ our Lord returns and we receive our New Bodies! This brings us to The New Heaven and New Earth where there is no more death, sorrow, crying or pain. Behold I make all things New!

Happy New Year! Peter Larocque
