Mayor-Elect Dan Rivera Reschedules Inauguration Weekend

UPDATED JAN. 2, 2013

Ceremony at 9:00 AM Saturday and Gala at 7:00 PM Saturday

Lawrence, MA (January 2, 2014) MayorElect Dan Rivera announced today a revised schedule of Inauguration Events, due to the severe weather storm.  The Inauguration Ceremony will now be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 4th at the North Common Education Complex (old Lawrence High School), 233 Haverhill Street. The Inaugural Gala will be now be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 4th at the Lawrence Elks Club. “While these inauguration festivities are important to our community, the safety and well-being of our residents is the paramount concern to me,” said MayorElect Dan Rivera. “A minor change of schedule pales in comparison to having a city that is safely passable to the public and emergency vehicles.  Again, I urge all residents to stay in their homes until the storm subsides so that DPW crews can do their jobs and make our roadways safe for drivers and pedestrians.”

Residents are encouraged to shovel the walk-ways in front of their homes and observe the city parking ban. For more information on the parking ban, visit http://www.cityoflawrence.com/emergency-winter-parking-ban.aspx .
