Technology sure has come a long way.
As CNN was reporting that all social media in Turkey was shut down by a military coup, we were live Facetiming with our Istanbul correspondent, Kemal Bozkurt, who says “That is not true. Do not listen to CNN. I have been using social media. I am talking to you on social media.”
This was an impromptu conversation via Facetime, being broadcast live through Facebook with another device.
Kemel Bozkurt lives in Lawrence, Massachusetts, but is in Istanbul visiting his family. He called us when he heard F16’s flying over his neighborhood and then heard bombs shortly thereafter.
