Mayor Kicks off Fun Weekend in Methuen

Methuen Mayor ZanniMethuen, MA – Mayor Steve Zanni announced that a series of events will be held in Methuen to coincide with the Essex National Heritage Area’s Trails & Sails Weekend. Scheduled for the weekend of September 28th – 29th, there are several family-fun events happening across Methuen.

 Events include:

 Methuen Rail Trail Extravaganza, which will feature a run, leisurely walks, and a scavenger hunt along the City’s rail trail off Railroad Street.

 Essex Rowing Regatta on the Merrimack River and hosted by the Essex Rowing Club. Held on September 28th, viewers are invited to view the 400 participants in the regatta from Riverside Park located at 975 Riverside Drive.

 Nevins Library Book Sale is being held all weekend long at the Nevins Library on Broadway.

 Civil War Tour of Walnut Grove Cemetery on Grove Street. The tour will be led by local historian Dan Gagnon as he discusses the history of Methuen residents in the US Civil War.

 “I really think this is a neat family weekend, and I hope residents take advantage of these opportunities to get out in the community,” said Mayor Zanni. “I appreciate the hard work that so many people put in to making these events available to our general population. It should be a nice weekend!”
