Another busy night for Lawrence police as the epidemic of shootings and gang violence had all patrol cars in the city tied up for hours.

Police responding to a terrible car accident on South Union Street discovered the man behind the wheel of the car had at least one bullet hole in his chest. He was transported to Lawrence General but did not make it.

While police were on their way to that scene, detectives were scouring Howard Park on Lawrence Street after a shootout that sources say lead to three gunshot victims being dumped off at Holy Family Hospital. All have been transported to Boston for medical treatment.

Sources tell the Valley Patriot that some of the victims were also shooters.

The hospital, unable to handle the situation, went on lockdown and diverted all ambulances and patients to Lawrence General for at least half an hour. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Lawrence police did not release the name of the murder victim who crashed on South Union Street.
