Salem, NH Police Charge Area Woman Following Fatal Crash

Elaine Regan, 57, of Goffstown, NH, has been charged with: Reckless Operation Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Serious Bodily Injury The Salem Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 231 Main St. on Monday at approximately 1:15 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, police came upon a 2009 Kia and a 2015 Jeep Patriot. Both vehicles had sustained significant damage.

A preliminary investigation by police suggests that the Jeep collided with the Kia, causing the Kia to hit a stone wall.

Two people were in the Kia at the time of the crash, a 35-year-old Salem man and a 33-year-old Salem woman.

Both were transported to local hospitals by ambulance, and the woman sustained life-threatening injuries. She was later transported to Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The man in the Kia suffered injuries in the crash that are considered non life-threatening. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of her next-of-kin.

The driver of the Jeep, Regan, was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital, and was later taken to the Salem Police Department where she was charged by police. She was released on personal recognizance bail, and is expected to be arraigned on May 21 at Rockingham County Superior Court.
