State Police Endorse Toohey for State Rep. in Haverhill

HAVERHILL –Shaun Toohey announced today that he has been endorsed by the State Police Association of Massachusetts in his campaign to become State Representative in the 3rd Essex District.

“Based on your experience as a member of the Haverhill School Committee, involvement with the local community and your stated commitment to public safety, our membership wholeheartedly believes the Commonwealth will be best served by your election as State Representative,” said Dana Pullman, President of the State Police Association of Massachusetts.

The State Police Association of Massachusetts includes uniformed members of the State Police, representing over 2,000 men and women who are regular full time employees in the titles of State Police Trooper, State Police Trooper First Class, and State Police Sergeant (Bargaining Unit 5A; excluding all other personnel employed by the Department of State Police). As part of its mission, the group also works to preserve and foster good-will with all people in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, mitigate the hazards of State Police work, and improve public service.

“I am honored and humbled to be endorsed by the State Police Association of Massachusetts,” said Toohey. “As I have said throughout this campaign, I am absolutely committed to improving public safety in Haverhill and across Massachusetts. As a State Representative, I will always have the back of law enforcement as they work tirelessly to keep our streets safe. In particular, I will work with state and local leaders to fight the epidemic of opioid abuse, and I will oppose any efforts to make Haverhill a sanctuary city or to make Massachusetts a sanctuary state.”

Last week, Toohey announced the endorsement of his campaign by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.

“I’m proud to endorse Shaun Toohey because I know he will be a terrific advocate for Haverhill in the Legislature,” said Governor Baker. “With his experience as a small business owner and dedicated public servant, Shaun will be a strong partner in our efforts to deliver for Haverhill as we continue to increase local aid, hold the line on taxes, and strengthen our schools.”
