Summer Brings Artisan Market to North Andover

The Artisan Market at the Mills was an idea born out of the North Andover Farmers’ Market. The North Andover Merchant’s Association launched the first Farmer’s Market in 2017. Vendors included farmers, food purveyors, and local artisans. The interest from the crafters in the Market’s inaugural year sparked the idea to bring local artisans together in their own space. The first Artisan Market at the Mills took place in June 2018 with extraordinary crowds.

A committee led by Sally Finnimore, a North Andover resident and local artisan, worked for months to establish the event as a high-quality, juried gathering of artisans. For each market, craftsmen and artists are categorized and evaluated on their products and presentations. In its 2018 debut, the Artisan Market showcased more than 100 artisans and in 2019, the committee assessed over 200 applications.

This year’s markets will feature jewelry, pottery, handbags, soaps and personal products, woodwork, metalwork, and more. In addition, there will be food trucks and entertainment for children.

Back by popular demand, free hayrides sponsored by several area businesses will be provided for patrons between the Farmer’s Market and the Artisan Market. The committee is also proud to engage with volunteers from local non-profits that help the artisans set up.

This year’s Artisan Market at the Mill is held at 50 High Street in North Andover, between 10 AM and 2 PM on the 3rd Sunday of each month from June through September (June 16th, July 21st, August 18th, and September 15th). Each Market is a rain or shine event and coincides with the North Andover Farmers’ Market, held on First and Main in North Andover.

Sponsors for the Artisan Market at the Mills include the North Andover Merchants Association, RCG, and the East and West Mills. ◊
