The Choice is Crystal Clear in Dracut

By: Brian Genest – Oct 21018

If you love the culture of corruption on Beacon Hill…

If you love record-high state spending and tax increases…

If you love a state representative who votes with the progressive Democrats 89% of the time…

Don’t bother reading this column; it won’t be of any interest to you. Feel free to carry on with business as usual. Send Colleen Garry back to the state house for a 13th term in office. After 24 years in office, you know exactly what you’re going to get: more of the same.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. This year, the people of Dracut and Tyngsborough have a Republican choice for state representative: Ray Leczynski. And the differences between the candidates couldn’t be any clearer.
A Dracut native from a large and well-known farming family, Ray Leczynski is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He’s a financial professional with more than 25 years of private-sector business experience. In other words, Ray Leczynski isn’t a career politician. He’s one of us and he’ll vote like us – and for us – at the state house.

Ray Leczynski will work with Governor Charlie Baker to bring two-party balance to the legislature, reform state government and conduct the people’s business with honesty, integrity and accountability. And isn’t it about time?

Unlike the incumbent, Ray Leczynski won’t vote for Robert DeLeo for house speaker, take campaign money from his PAC or vote with him and the progressive Democrats the vast majority of the time.

Speaking of Colleen Garry’s voting record, she’s doing everything she possibly can to hide it!

Just like she did with her Democrat opponent in the primary election, Colleen Garry is refusing to participate in more than one debate with her Republican opponent in the general election.

Colleen Garry says having two debates – one in Dracut and one in Tyngsborough – would divide the district. Of course, she holds fundraisers in both towns, but that’s OK, right?

If anyone is diving the district, it’s Colleen Garry and her campaign fundraising practices. In Dracut, you had to donate $100 to visit with her at Warren Shaw’s house or pay to eat Chinese food. In Tyngsborough, she gave away spaghetti for free. So much for fairness and equality in the 36th Middlesex District.

If Colleen Garry’s record is so great, why doesn’t she want anyone talking about it, including herself? Could it be because she has 24 years in office and zero legislative accomplishments? Could it be because she says one thing and does another? Could it be because she has a legacy of broken promises?

Public safety is a perfect example. When she ran for office way back in 1994, Colleen Garry said she was in favor of the death penalty. She’s had a strange way of showing it. Colleen Garry has consistently voted against the death penalty ever since, including for terrorism, torture and murdering police officers.

Ray Leczynski will support our police, protect our citizens, and maintain law and order in our state. He’s in favor of the death penalty for murderers of police officers and pledges to introduce the necessary legislation to make it the law in Massachusetts.

Ray Leczynski believes in the rule of law and in legal immigration. He will never support illegal immigration and he will never vote to make Massachusetts a sanctuary state.

Colleen Garry can’t be trusted to tell us the truth and she can’t be trusted to keep us safe!

She also can’t be trusted when it comes to taxes. Colleen Garry has a history of voting for billion-dollar tax increases, starting back in 2002.

This year, Colleen Garry voted for the “Grand Bargain.” It’s certainly a great deal for the special interests and Beacon Hill power brokers. But it’s going to cost taxpayers a small fortune: $775 million in new taxes, to be exact.

What’s worse than raising existing taxes and creating new ones? Being dishonest about your votes. Colleen Garry claims she voted against the automatic gas tax, but that’s an absolute lie. She flip-flopped: Colleen Garry was against it, before she was for it.

Colleen Garry is a hypocrite, an embarrassment and a failure. Dracut and Tyngsborough deserve better than a state rep who wants to duck the voters, duck her record and duck the important issues facing our towns. Vote Ray Leczynski – for a change!
