Why I’m Running for Methuen City Council At-Large

Family pictureMy name is D.J. Beauregard, and I am running to serve as one of three at-large members of the Methuen City Council.

I was born and raised in Methuen, and I am a proud product of the Methuen Public Schools. My wife and I recently became new parents and first-time homeowners.

I have been passionate about making our community better and stronger since I was a kid. I volunteered with the Methuen Youth Corps and was a founding member of the Methuen High School Key Club. Today, I serve as a member of the Merrimack Valley Prevention and Substance Abuse Project’s Board of Directors. I have always challenged myself to do my part.
Although this is my first run for office, I am no stranger to municipal government.

I had the opportunity to work at City Hall as an intern with then-Mayor Bill Manzi from 2006 to 2007. However, I gained most of my experience in the private sector. After earning my MBA, I initially worked in the financial services industry. Because of that experience, I know how broader economic conditions can affect municipalities. I now work in the nonprofit sector and recently started my own business. I am an entrepreneur, and I understand the importance of making data-driven decisions.

I decided to run for office because I realize that Methuen has more than its fair share of challenges, but our city also has many opportunities and strengths. It is critical for our elected officials to collaborate in order to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities, and I believe that I have the experience and skills necessary to help facilitate Methuen’s growth.

I care deeply about supporting our public school system, addressing public safety issues, and helping our local business community by fostering responsible business development. As a taxpayer, I believe strongly in fiscal responsibility and understand the financial challenges faced by the many residents of our city who are on fixed incomes. I also have no conflicts of interest with our city, which will allow me to represent every constituent in Methuen without ever having to step away from the table.

For me, this is not just a campaign – it is a job interview. While I have my own ideas and concerns, I want to hear your ideas and concerns. As a member of the City Council, I will be working for you, but I also want to work with you. After all, the only way to move Methuen forward is by moving forward together.

I look forward to earning the trust of the people of Methuen, and I hope to receive one of your three votes to serve as a Councilor-at-Large.
