Renown graphic artist Lance Hidy charts the progress of his explorations in traditional graphic arts media and how that led him to become an early adopter of digital tools in a talk is 7 pm, Friday, November 7 at the Museum of Printing, 800 Massachusetts Ave, North Andover.
Among the highlights of his talk will be the story of adapting his poster lettering for the typeface Penumbra, three U.S. postage stamps, and his collaboration with Ansel Adams. His displayed work includes artists books, letterpress samples, etching and wood engraving, through silkscreen, photography, and finally, Photoshop.
He has been a consultant with Adobe Systems on type design, software and to Eastman Kodak, Center for Creative Imaging.
Hidy continues to practice illustration, book design, and photography from his studio in Merrimac, Massachusetts. A graduate of Yale, he is a professor of art at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.
The talk is free, a $5 donation appreciated.
Hidys work is on display in the Museum of Printing through December 20th.
