Isabel Dupuis

The Valley Patriot’s 22nd Anniversary BASH! Committee is pleased to announce high school senior Isabel Dupuis as this year’s Greater Lawrence Tech. scholarship recipient to be given out at the Lawrence Elks Club on March 27, 2026.

Isabel Dupuis is a senior at Greater Lawrence Technical School in the Medical Assisting career area. She is the daughter of Stacey and Steve Dupuis of Methuen, MA. Isabel has achieved remarkable success through determination and hard work despite the medical challenges she was born with. She currently ranks 7th in her class out of 432 seniors and has a weighted GPA of 4.3909.

Isabel was born with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, a rare disorder affecting the function of cilia, leading to chronic respiratory infections, sinus, and ear infections. Due to this disorder, Isabel is prone to frequent illness, often spiking a fever from the routine rigors of her academic schedule.

Over the course of her life, she has endured over 20 surgeries. Sophomore year, she became extremely ill with a severe infection that took a year to treat. This infection subsequently triggered the onset of rheumatoid arthritis. A dedicated team of physicians assists Isabel in managing her health, which includes daily medication. Making her parents proud serves as the core motivation for Isabel to persevere through her medical challenges and excel.

Academically, Isabel stands among the most accomplished students at GLTS. Her induction into the National Honor Society and recognition with the Simmons University Book Award highlight her leadership, scholarship, and integrity. In addition, she participated in the Harvard Pre-Med Summer Program and served as a Harvard Student Ambassador, both of which enriched her understanding of the medical field and affirmed her goal of becoming a nurse.

Beyond academics, Isabel has distinguished herself through leadership, service, and work experience. As a GLTS Reggie Leader, peer tutor, and SkillsUSA Delegate, she has demonstrated initiative and the ability to support and inspire others. Isabel volunteers with the MSPCA, creates holiday cards for nursing home residents, and supports various community fundraisers, including golf tournaments and bocce events that raise money for veterans. Currently, she is employed as a Medical Assistant at Beth Israel Lahey Primary Care, gaining firsthand experience in patient care while also working at the Sweetheart Inn.

Upon graduation, Isabel intends to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with the ultimate goal of obtaining a graduate degree to practice as a nurse practitioner. She has been accepted to all the colleges she has applied to, including her top college, Simmons University.
