LawTown Legend Bylli Crayone and His Legacy

Crayone Classics: 35 Years of Independent Music

Few independent artists can say they’ve built a career spanning 35 years while staying true to their own vision. In 2026, Bylli Crayone celebrates that remarkable milestone with the release of Crayone Classics, a newly remastered retrospective honoring three and a half decades of infectious, 80s- and 90s-inspired dance music.

Bylli Crayone’s journey began unexpectedly in 1991 during a visit with family in Miami. His aunt arranged a tour of a local recording studio, and before long he found himself behind the microphone recording what would become his debut freestyle dance track, “Girl Hang It Up!” After the session, the producer handed him a copy of the song on a Memorex cassette and sent him home to Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Just weeks later, Bylli received a life-changing phone call.

“Hey Bylli, remember that song you recorded? It’s in heavy rotation on the late-night mix show on Power 96 in Miami.”

That unexpected success quickly led to a 22-date roller rink tour, launching the career of the artist who would eventually become known as “The LawTown Legend.”

Throughout the 1990s, Bylli continued recording music, primarily in Boston, refining the signature dance-pop sound that would define his career. In 1999, he teamed up with fellow LawTown legend Domenic Marte, whose production helped shape several songs that would appear on Bylli’s self-titled debut album, Bylli Crayone, released independently in 2005.

The album proved that an independent artist could compete on a national level, finding its way onto the shelves of major retailers including Walmart, Borders, and Tower Records.
In 2010, another chapter began thanks to advice from longtime friend and freestyle icon Lisa Lisa of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.

“Why not reach out to some of the artists you grew up listening to?” she suggested.

Bylli took that advice to heart.

The result was Presto, an album featuring collaborations with several of the very artists whose posters once covered his bedroom walls, including Tiffany, Samantha Fox, Salt-N-Pepa, and Boy George. The project became a celebration of 1980s pop culture while introducing Bylli’s music to an even wider audience.

During the making of Presto, Bylli also caught the attention of global superstar Gloria Estefan, who would become both a friend and mentor. Today, Presto remains a beloved independent release treasured by fans for its unmistakable blend of nostalgia and modern dance production.

Now, in 2026, Bylli Crayone celebrates his extraordinary career with Crayone Classics, a special 35th Anniversary collection featuring newly remastered fan favorites from across his catalog.

The collection will be available in multiple formats:
• Pink Colored Vinyl – 10 remastered tracks
• Compact Disc – 15 remastered tracks
• Digital Edition – 20 remastered tracks

Appropriately, the album arrives on July 4, 2026, a date that not only marks the project’s release but also Bylli Crayone’s birthday, making the celebration even more meaningful for both the artist and his fans.

After 35 years of writing, recording, touring, and remaining proudly independent, Bylli Crayone continues to prove that passion, perseverance, and authenticity never go out of style.
