Happy Happy Resurrection Sunday! For many of us, this took place on Sunday, April 5, 2026. This, for the followers of Jesus Christ, is our Super Bowl, our greatest of all events; it’s when our Lord and Savior was raised from the dead. Death and the grave defeated!
Now I understand that on Saturday, March 28, there was a “No Kings protest Day.” A day set aside to protest having no king. I want to emphasize that this is not a political column, and I am in no way insinuating that President Trump is in any way on the same level as Jesus Christ. That is just ignorant and foolish talk. I am simply focusing on the phrase, “No Kings.”
I do recall a time when there was a lot of yelling about a similar question asked prior to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, asked by Pilate, which we can read in John 19:12-16, “From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, ‘If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.” 13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14 Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour.
And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!” 15 But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” 16 Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.” NKJV.
Now, in just the opposite fashion, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I cannot say I have no King because I do! He just so happens to be the King of kings and Lord of lords!!! My Bible tells me in 1 Timothy 1:15-17, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
16 However, for this reason, I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Here we are told that not only is Jesus Christ King, but that He also is God! Then again in 1Timothy 6:14-16, “that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.” NKJV.
Finally, in the book of Revelation, we read in Chapter 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” NKJV.
Before mankind was put on this earth, Jesus was the beginning and end, the Almighty. He was here before the need for a King existed! Then again, in Revelation 17:14, we read, “These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” NKJV. And once again in Revelation 19:16, “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” NKJV.
It would be an outright contradiction and denial of belief in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ if I were to participate (not that I would in any way, shape or form) in a so-called “No Kings Event.”
I end with this, Philippians 2:9-11, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” NKJV.
