Jessica Finnocchiaro of the Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover has been working with The Valley Patriot BASH committee for the past three years. Finnocchiaro interviews students who apply for a Valley Patriot scholarships, researches their backgrounds, and personally chooses the winner each year.
Finnocchiaro took the microphone at the Valley Patriot BASH and explained why she chose Daniela Marroquin for a $1,000 scholarship.
“I’m proud to say this is the 3nd annual scholarship from the Valley Patriot to GLTS students and I am really excited tonight to tell you about our 2017 scholarship winner. Her name is Daniela Marroquin.”
“She is the daughter of Ms. Yanes Flor and Mr. Edin Marroquin of Methuen. She has been at the Tech School since 2013, and is graduating from the Dental Assistant career program. Daniela has field placement experience at Tufts University of Dental Medicine through the GLTS Dental Assisting program. She is planning to continue her studies in biology in college. Daniela was accepted at Emmanuel College, Framingham State University, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Merrimack College, Suffolk University, University of Hartford, and U-MASS Boston.
Daniela has a 4.12 GPA and is currently ranked 7th out of a class of 329 students in the Class of 2017.
Daniela is a member of the National Honor Society, has been a four year member of the Varsity Tennis Team, Reggie Leaders, Peer Mediators, the Interact Club and done numerous volunteer activities
Daniela has a part-time job at AMC Theaters in Methuen, and says that Being able to impact someone’s life by shedding a mere glimpse of hope is why she gives back to my community.”
