Largest Powerball jackpot since October 27

DORCHESTER, MA (MARCH 14, 2019) The Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, March 16 drawing is an estimated $495 million.  The cash option on the prize is an estimated $300.2 million.

 Saturday night’s Powerball drawing will be the 23rd since the jackpot was last hit December 26, when a $298.3 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in New York.  The $495 million jackpot is the game’s largest since October 27, when a $687.8 million jackpot was shared by winning tickets sold in Iowa and New York.

 “March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month and we remind people to keep the experience of playing the lottery fun by playing responsibly,” said Michael Sweeney, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Powerball tickets are $2 each and can be played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Tickets for this drawing can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. Saturday at Massachusetts Lottery retailers across the state.  Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET in Tallahassee, Florida.

 The jackpot for Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing is an estimated $40 million, while the jackpot for Saturday night’s Megabucks Doubler drawing is an estimated $800,000.
