From time to time, my column will feature questions asked by readers regarding the world of TV. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have about TV at BillsTVTalk@gmail.com, and I’ll do my best to answer you and may feature your question in a future column. Here’s what we got!

I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons of ‘Mindhunter’ on Netflix. I haven’t heard of a 3rd season coming. I hope that it hasn’t been cancelled. What do you hear?
– Manuel from Nashua

After season 2, the show’s creator, David Fincher had no interest in continuing the series, so all the actors were released from their contracts. It looked like that was the end of the show. However, Fincher signed an exclusive four-year deal with Netflix late last year that has so far resulted in the Academy Award-nominated film ‘Mank,’ and now comes word that Fincher has a renewed excitement for a 3rd season of ‘Mindhunter’ and talks have begun to bring the series back. So hopefully we will see a new season in the future.

Hi Bill, I enjoy reading your column, but I always wonder why you never give a negative review to anything? Your reviews are always positive. Certainly, that doesn’t mean that you like everything, right? – Christine from Salisbury.

Thanks Christine. I actually get asked this question a lot. The truth is that there is a lot that I don’t like on TV, believe me. But I’d rather spend my column recommending things for people to watch and not a show that I’m bashing. It’s much better to share shows that I really enjoy with people, rather than shows that I don’t.

I recently discovered a terrific show on Netflix called ‘Master of None.’ I noticed that the last season of the show was 4 years ago. Are there any plans to have more seasons? – Mary from Haverhill

I agree Mary, it is a terrific show, and yes, a 3rd season of the show finished filming in London in January. The series star and creator, Aziz Ansari, has written and directed the season, however his character of Dev will reportedly only play a minor role in these new episodes. Instead, the season will center on Lena Waithe’s character, Denise. It’s slated to return to Netflix on May 23.

During the Super Bowl I saw an ad for something that looked like another ‘Yellowstone’ series. Was I seeing things? What can you tell me about it? – Matt from Dracut

No, you definitely weren’t seeing things, a prequel to ‘Yellowstone’ is forthcoming. ‘Y: 1883’ will premiere later this year on Paramount’s new streaming service, Paramount +. According to press release from Paramount “Y: 1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land—Montana.” A second spinoff, with the working title ‘6666,’ is in the works too, and rumor has it some of the existing cast members from ‘Yellowstone’ will star.

I know a lot of shows had to shut down because of the pandemic and most of them are back, but one of my favorites that I haven’t heard anything about is Survivor. What’s happening with it? – Diane from Chelmsford.

‘Survivor’ took a long time to get clearance from Fiji to return there for filming. But Fiji finally was able to allow them to return in March and production on the new season began. Look for Season 41 to premiere this fall.

That’s it for this mailbag. Thanks for all the questions and keep ‘em coming!
