Countdown to the Revolution: 120 Days

If Paul Revere stopped by your house

… would you join the fight for freedom?

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

By; Dr. Charles Ormsby – July, 2010

The future of your country and of human liberty may depend on the political battles that are fought over the next four months. The final tally of these battles will be counted on November 2, 2010.

Your children don’t understand what is at stake, but they depend on you to know. The quality of their lives and the lives of future generations depends on you.

Will you do whatever it takes to preserve the American Dream for them? Will you make sure the Flame of Freedom isn’t extinguished on your watch?

Approximately a dozen American generations inherited the Dream, preserved it, and protected it. Then they passed its blessings on to the next generation.

Will you be part of a generation that lets the American Dream die?

Were your ancestors there when the battles for that Dream were fought at Lexington, Trenton, Brandywine, Saratoga, Valley Forge, Guilford Courthouse, or Yorktown? Or maybe they helped preserve the Dream at Bull Run, Shiloh, Antietam, Fredericksburg, or Gettysburg. How about the Battle of the Marne, Normandy, Bastogne, the Bulge, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, or Iwo Jima? Maybe you or family members served in Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, or more recently Iraq or Afghanistan.

Now we all have an opportunity to serve our country.

While millions of brave men and women were risking their lives – and many even lost them – to preserve our freedoms, a committed segment of our fellow Americans has fought to undermine those freedoms and bankrupt our country. They neither understand nor value true freedom. In fact, many of them actively despise and seek to weaken America and to substantially diminish, if not completely extinguish, individual liberty.

The enemies of freedom have accomplished much. The American Dream is in jeopardy.

So the task of restoring individual liberty and fiscal sanity falls to us.

Some of your neighbors have already stood up and have declared their candidacy for elective office. They have committed themselves, their families, and their fortunes to the fight.

They are storming the barricades. Will they do so alone, or will they have your backing?

Our current political class has betrayed our trust and undermined our liberties while weakening our economy. It is time to replace these turncoats!

Here are the names of some of our courageous neighbors who have stepped forward to fight for you and your future:

In the 5th Congressional District (Chelmsford-Lowell-Methuen, Lawrence-Haverhill area), there are several excellent candidates that oppose the anti-liberty and anti-market policies of the current office holder. Among them are four Republican candidates (Sam Meas, Jon Golnik, Bob Shapiro, and Tom Weaver) and two independent candidates (Dale Brown and Bob Clark).

In the 6th Congressional District (from Bedford to Salem and from Reading/Wakefield to Newburyport/Salisbury ), two Republican candidates (Bill Hudak, a small business entrepreneur and attorney, and Rob McCarthy, attorney and USMC veteran) are opposing one of the most liberal of Pelosi supporters in Washington.

In the 2nd Essex and Middlesex District (Lawrence, Andover, Dracut, Tewksbury), the state Senate seat being vacated by Sue Tucker has attracted two Republican candidates (Jamison Tomasek and Patrick Rahilly) and one Independent (Jodi Oberto).

In the 14th Essex District (Precincts 1-6 in North Andover and southeastern sections of Lawrence), the incumbent liberal (excuse the redundancy) state representative is being challenged by two North Andover Republicans (Kevin Begley and Stanley Novak).

In the 18th Essex District (scattered precincts in Andover, North Andover, Boxford, Georgetown, Methuen, and Haverhill), the incumbent who supported increasing the sales tax by 25%, undermining our local economy and destroying jobs (not to mention dozens of other outrageous votes) is being challenged by two Andover Republicans (Jim Lyons and John Thorlin).

You should also consider providing financial help to candidates who are strong advocates of liberty and fiscal sanity in other parts of the country. Examples include Senate candidates Carly Fiorina (CA), Sharon Angle (NV), Rand Paul (KY), John Boozman (AK), Mark Kirk (IL), Rob Portman (OH), Patrick Toomey (PA), and Kelly Ayotte or Bill Binnie (NH; Primary Sept 14th).

YOUR ASSIGNMENT: Start with the races near where you live. Go to the Web sites of the candidates listed above, study their backgrounds, and review their positions on the issues. Then call those who appeal to you and offer your support.

DON’T SIT OUT THE FIGHT!! Don’t be a sunshine Patriot!

Pick a fight and join in.

Voting is critically important, but it is not enough. It is like showing up for the ribbon cutting. You are needed during construction.

Things you can do: Bumper stickers, lawn signs, letters to the editor, financial support, hold signs, make calls, send postcards, literature drops, stuff envelopes … and, yes, stick your head out your window and scream, “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!”

Then, when the work is finished and the battles have been fought … VOTE! And make sure everyone you know who shares your pro-liberty perspective also votes.

It is easier to do nothing. It is easier to hide.

But don’t pick the easy route. You won’t feel good about yourself. You will not be able to look your children in the eye or yourself in the mirror.

Help make history. Do not just watch it.

What will you say when your grandchildren ask you what you did during the revolution?

Pick up the phone and shout “I am here to help!” Do it now.

Now!!!
