The Georgetown Republican Committee held a caucus in late January and elected 9 representatives from Georgetown to represent the committee at the upcoming March 22 Massachusetts Republican Party Convention in Boston.
Georgetown Republican Committee Chair Anne Tentindo has served as the driving force behind organizing and growing the local committee for the upcoming 2014 election cycle. Anne served a key role during the last election cycle, helping to seat local Republican Lenny Mirra in the state house. The committee will next meet in late February and welcomes all Republicans and un-enrolled residents to join them. Check the website postings at GeorgetownTODAY.org for details.
Did you know that the Georgetown Middle/High School puts on the most tremendous musicals each year? This Feb. 7th and 8th, they’re once again putting on a grand elaborate show at school’s auditorium: Once Upon a Mattress. If you have some time, drop in!
There’s still time (perhaps) to purchase one of the 300 tickets which will be sold for a chance to win a Disney vacation! Tickets are $50, and benefit Georgetown Baseball.
A DAY IN IRELAND
There’s a rumor going ‘round that the Knights of Columbus just might revive their special ‘Night in Ireland’ sing-along and story-telling and comedy night for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Stay tuned. If it happens, we’ll be sure to spread the word.
Sally Applegate, Cathy L’Hommedieu, the Fabric of our Community
Local journalist, theatre critic, and neighbor, Sally Applegate has once again touched our hearts by capturing in her local column the 39 years Cathy L’Hommedieu has dedicated to the town of Georgetown, retiring this past December from her position at the library. I do hope she won’t mind us sharing just one of her quotes from Cathy, published in the Georgetown Record: “The one thing I like most about living in Georgetown is the people who live here. I tell newcomers to the library that I am glad they moved here. They chose a wonderful town. The residents of Georgetown are very special. This is a terrific town in which to live and to bring up their children.” – See more at: http://georgetown.wickedlocal.com/article/20140124/NEWS/140129048/?tag=2#sthash.DlprUrV4.dpuf
