Home Health VNA has awarded Anna Wolfendale, a Methuen resident and graduate of the Health Careers Program at Greater Lawrence Technical High School, a scholarship given annually in memory of a former employee. Ms. Wolfendale has been accepted to Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire and plans to pursue a career in nursing.
The $500 scholarship was established in 1995 as a tribute to Lisa Santiago Ventura, an employee of Home Health VNA. Ms. Ventura was driving to care for a patient, when she was accidentally struck during a high speed police chase and sustained fatal injuries. In her memory, the agency awards the Lisa Santiago Ventura Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior of the Greater Lawrence Technical High School where she was a student.
“We are proud to present this scholarship to Anna Wolfendale, an exemplary student, pursuing a career in nursing,” said Karen Gomes. “We are impressed with her dedication and determination and are confident she will be an asset to the field of nursing.” ◊
