The Massachusetts State Police report that at 7:45am. Sunday morning, a 23-year-old woman from Providence, RI fell asleep while traveling on Route 95 southbound in Attleboro.
Police say that the 2015 Subaru she was driving, drifted off the road and struck the attenuator at the beginning of a guardrail section.
“These crash attenuators are designed to absorb impacts from vehicles and this one did its job perfectly,” police said in a press release.
“If this vehicle had struck a tree or another driver, it is likely a trooper would have been knocking on a door with devastating news for her parents. A reminder to us all that driving tired can have deadly consequences.”
